2020 - Looking back at a challenging but successful year
2020 has been a difficult year for all of us. The pandemic has brought along challenges in our personal lives and at work, and we have had to adapt to the different and unsettled everyday life. At Novicell, despite the challenges, we’ve tried to focus on the positives and, fortunately, we have had a good year overall with a lot of new exciting activities and projects.
New Customer Projects
For the global pharmaceutical company, Sinclair Pharma, we created a new Umbraco Premium website to help showcase their products on multiple websites and languages. Since the launch, Sinclair Pharma has seen a 76% increase in new users, and in just four months the number of new sessions has increased by 70%.
Head of Digital at Sinclair Pharma, Dave Baldwin, comments on the collaboration:
- With the new website, we’re able to showcase how our facial aesthetics treatments work and highlight our partner physicians. We also have an effective CMS supporting all our regional teams’ needs and much more user-friendly experience for the end user. But, most importantly, our digital business model has turned into a true business driver.

One of the UK and Ireland's leading specialists in agriculture and ground care, Spaldings & Central Spares, launched their two new sites in 2020. Novicell helped them develop their web solutions and improved technical functionalities which resulted in growth in overall traffic, longer sessions duration and lower bounce rate.

Besides building websites, Novicell has helped companies improve their digital marketing performance. Since 2018, we have worked with BIMM – The British and Irish Modern Music Institute – to increase brand awareness and drive applications. Most recently, Novicell helped BIMM keep their year-on-year growth steady over the pandemic while universities experienced a massive drop in the number of students.

Going Even More Digital
As a consequence of the pandemic and the new social distancing guidelines in 2020, we decided to move our popular seminars over to webinars. Since March, we have hosted 16 webinars for more than 400 people, and at the time of writing, we are planning many more exciting and inspirational webinars on how to grow your digital performance in 2021.
We also transferred our client workshops to digital format. This move has been surprisingly successful, and our clients have been more than satisfied with the outcome. Most importantly, we did not sacrifice on core deliverables. We just adapted the format.
Despite our digital nature, there’s nothing like meeting people face-to-face, and we can’t wait to be able to invite you back into our office again – hopefully in not too long.
Despite the challenges we have come across due to the pandemic, we have still managed to grow our team, and we now have 30 skilled employees working at Novicell London. This also means that, once again, we have moved to a bigger office – and we are now back in familiar surroundings in our previous building in 8 Devonshire Square.
Lastly, we want to thank our loyal customers who, regardless of their own struggles, have continued to support us. It is all thanks to you that we have managed to work around this year's challenges and uncertainty. We are very grateful for that, and we are happy to see that there is still a great demand for our digital solutions. We know the future is a little unknown, but we have big ambitions for 2021. We are expecting a busy year with many exciting projects and we are looking forward to welcoming even more skilled employees to our team.
Novicell UK wishes you all a safe and happy new year! May 2021 bring us all closer together again.
