Novicell Has a Large Presence at brightonSEO 2019

Now this year’s brightonSEO conference has come to an end as of September 13th 2019, there’s only one thing left to say – what an experience it has been for Novicell.

brightonSEO is a yearly search conference (SEO & PPC) that – of course – is held in Brighton, Great Britain. The conference is the largest within the search industry, in Europe. This year there were more than 4,000 attendees.

Two of Novicell’s current employees held a talk on the big scene, with topics about Gmail Ads and SEO. Furthermore, three of Novicell’s employees took the initiative to go to Brighton to educate themselves and network with the sharpest experts in the industry.

All five of our colleagues returned with a great experience, a bigger network and a lot of new trends that are going to be tested in the near future.

Jacob Tibbott – Gmail Ads

Jacob Tibbott, Novicell UK’s Digital Marketing Consultant, spoke about Gmail Ads, how to beat the competition and how to boost brand engagement through the use of highly-targeted Gmail Ads. Novicell has run a number of studies to assess the effectiveness of Gmail Ads, targeting highly-specific life events of users who are moving home, renovating their home or getting married soon.

Layering your audiences together is also a great strategy to ensure your ads are laser targeted, to combine your remarketing lists with custom intent audiences, or your custom intent audiences with life events. For example, ‘home renovations' is still quite a broad targeting strategy. If your business is only in the market for new kitchens, you might combine the home renovation life event with a kitchen custom intent audience.

Gmail Ad campaigns are extremely easy to set up and, if you’re strapped for time, you can even set up a responsive display campaign, which includes Gmail as a placement. Please note that responsive display campaigns do not currently include life events as a targeting option.

Kenneth Wernst Christensen – SEO

Kenneth Wernst Christensen, Novicell’s International SEO Manager, presented at this year’s conference a case study about Great Britain’s 80 largest E-commerce companies. The study was in two parts and dealt with (1) SEO’s effect on a company’s turnover and profit, and (2) the factors that have the biggest effect on SEO.

The study looked at the websites of the 80 largest E-commerce companies in Great Britain and included more than 50 SEO factors.

The study concluded that SEO has a direct and significant positive effect on both a company’s turnover and the profit. Furthermore, the study analysed the 80 companies with regards to the four largest SEO categories:

  1. Links
  2. Technical SEO
  3. Page speed
  4. On-page SEO
